Alty wait on Halifax decision

IT'S d-day for Alty's Blue Square Premier rivals Halifax Town.

The Shaymen have until the end of today to reach an agreement with creditors over a new company voluntary agreement (CVA) or else face expulsion from the league and possibly liquidation.

Should they fail to satisfy both creditors and the Conference board, Alty would almost certainly be reinstated to non-league football's top flight.

Originally, the club had been set a deadline of Wednesday to put a CVA in place but the meeting was adjourned after it became clear the club's offer of 2.5 pence in the pound would not be accepted by creditors.

Halifax have debts of more than £2million, some of which have been carried over from a previous CVA agreed in 2003.

A meeting between club officials and creditors began at 10am today at the Leeds offices of administrators Begbies Traynor.

The majority of creditors are thought to be holding out for an offer of 10 pence in the pound but there are not even any guarantees that would be agreed.

A decision was originally expected by lunchtime but talks are now continuing into the afternoon, which means the club's future will go right down to the wire.
