Apologies over allotment final reminders

TRAFFORD Council has apologised to allotment tenants who have wrongly received final reminders for their annual allotment rents, and would like to assure them that no legal action will be taken against them.

Invoices for the rents were sent out on May 5 but, due to an inputting error, these were immediately followed by the warning letters.

A council spokesperson said: "We value our allotment tenants and appreciate the upset that can be caused by a mistake like this.

"We are currently in the process of contacting these tenants to inform them why this happened and to invite them to contact us if they have any further concerns about the issue."

When does David McNulty, the Chief Executive, who is ultimately responsible for all the Council's operational activities, do the decent thing and resign after yet another basic mistake.

My Dad got one of these letters and i couldn't beleive it and he was really upset. The demanding letter was very strong and didn't even mention that is was for the alloment rent. I had to call the council to sort it out for him and I was told 'Sorry it was an error'. As most of the allotment people are pensioners this would of really upsetting for them, as it was for my dad. A personal sorry from the council would be better than another stupid letter.
