THE family of a bright Altrincham teenager who died of cancer days after achieving top grades in his maths A level have paid tribute to him.
Seventeen-year-old Chad Mulholland, who was diagnosed with Hodgkinson’s disease three years ago, died last Monday after gaining 100 per cent in two out of three pure maths modules despite missing a year of school.
Chad underwent a bone marrow transplant last year but battled through to gain 10 A* grades in his GCSEs. He then had a relapse and the disease returned.
Talking about the former Altrincham Boys Grammar School pupil, dad Andrew, mum Michelle and younger sisters Pia and Tilly, of Groby Road, said: “Chad truly was an inspiration to not only us, but, everyone whose lives he touched. The courage and bravery he showed in the face of such adversity was remarkable.”
Andrew added: “Michelle and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the doctors and nurses at Pendlebury and Christie hospitals who fought so hard for him.
“To Cathy Wardell, Chad’s Macmillan nurse, who offered us so much help and support and to all the teachers at Altrincham Grammar.
“We also thank our family and friends for their kind words and support. We appreciate this is a difficult time for everyone.
“He was the perfect son and brother and we will all miss him deeply. Gone but never forgotten.”
